As part of its efforts to communicate the services of the GNBS to stakeholders in the outlying Regions of Guyana, the Marketing and Communications Department conducted a visit to Bartica, Region #7.
During the visit, which was conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2017, Head Marketing and Communication, Ms. Keisha Mc Cammon and Public Relations Officer Lloyd David joined forces with Weights and Measures Officer of the Region Vashali Ramnarine to conduct a number of communication activities.
These activities included a television interview, which was held on Bartica’s lone television station, Tarzie, to update Barticians on aspects, such as the verification of devices used in trade, available standards that are useful to enhance the quality of products and services offered in the Region and the proposed Metrology Bill.
A visit was also conducted to the main municipal market to educate vendors on the proposed Metrology Bill and to garner the level of compliance of vendors and their devices with weights and measures requirements. Vendors provided vital feedback to the visiting team.
The final activity conducted in Bartica was a lecture for approximately fifty students and teachers of the Bartica Secondary School. These students and teachers were educated on the services provided by the GNBS, the importance of standards and weights and measures and the use of the metric system.
