The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has commenced the verification (stamping) of all measuring devices used in trade for the first half of 2017. These exercises will be conducted at all markets and at strategic locations countrywide to alleviate the need for vendors, shopkeepers and other users of scales, masses and measures to travel long distances to get their devices verified. The GNBS will only verify devices that are approved for commercial trade, those that are fully metric and are in a clean at tidy condition. The verification of devices is expected to conclude on March 31, 2017; so users of devices must make the necessary efforts to have their devices verified before the deadline. Devices can be submitted to the GNBS Main Office in the Sophia Exhibition Complex, at the GNBS sub Offices in Anna Regina, New Amsterdam, Vreed en Hoop and Lethem or any of the Weights and Measures offices located in the RDC compound of your Region.
Consumers are encouraged to check to ensure that the devices from which they are buying are stamped for this period.
If your devices are not stamped as yet, please stay tuned to your radio to know when Inspectors will be in your area to do mobile stamping.
