Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipes manufactured by Plastic Products Limited (PPL) were once again certified by the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) under its Product Certification Scheme. The recertification, which is effective from August 09, 2018, permits PPL to affix the National Standards Mark to the PVC pipes it manufactures.
A recertification audit conducted by the GNBS revealed that the pipes that PPL manufactures continued to meet the requisite testing and quality requirements of the two National Standards: GYS 107, ‘Specification for pressure –rated PVC pipes (SDR series) and GYS 99, ‘Specification for PVC pipes Schedules 40, 80 and 120’.
PVC Pipes which are in compliance with these national standards are tested to ensure they are of good quality, and when put in use they can withstand specified pressures and remain durable for an extensive period of time.
The renewal certificate, which is valid for one year, was presented by Mr. Al Fraser, Technical Officer II of the GNBS to PPL’s Plant Manager, Mr. Bharrath Rampersad in the presence of Ms. Zorina Armaugan.
The GNBS is proud of the commitment demonstrated by companies like Plastic Products Limited to have their products certified to the requirements of National Standards. Other products currently certified to National Standards under the GNBS Product Certification Scheme are PVC pipes manufactured by Guyana Thermoplastics Limited and gold jewellery manufactured by Steve’s Jewellery. In the not too distant future, the GNBS plans to widen the PC scheme to include the certification of load bearing and non-loadbearing concrete hollow blocks.
