The GNBS in collaboration is hosting an ISO Regional IT User Services Workshop at Marriott Hotel Guyana, The course provides hands-on practical training in the use of ISO Global Directory and other electronic services.The ISO Global Directory is the application used for managing data relating to experts, committees , expert roles and permissions for ISO and national committees. Anyone wishing to participate in the development of International Standards must be registered in the Global Directory. The role of the ISO User Administrator is key in ISO system since the User Administrator is the person(s) responsible for inputting and managing data on behalf of an ISO member in the ISO Global Directory.
At opening ceremony there were remarks from Candelle Walcott-Bostwick , Executive Director of the GNBS , Rowen Willabus , Vice Chairman of National Standards Council and from Francois Mieville , Training Facilitator of the ISO Regional Training
Candelle Walcott-Bostwick commended the training initiative and noted that it will aid in each country’s development. “The application of the ISO standards will facilitate the development of our respective economies by ensuring the acceptance of products and services globally for economic development,” Candelle Walcott-Bostwick said.
She noted that in light of the new-found oil in Guyana, the workshop is critical for changing the landscape of the country’s development:
“ISO standards and the involvement in its development will be of critical importance to the development of our local products and services. And with the advancement in technology, the use of IT tools is one of the main objectives of our economies.”
Eight (8) countries with 22 participants from Caribbean such as Haiti, Trinidad, St. Kitts & Nevis, Jamaica , Antigua & Barbuda , Barbados , Jamaica ,Trinidad , St. Lucia and Guyana are taking part in the course which will end on 1st November , 2018.
