The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) designates October 13 – 17 as National Quality Week. National Quality Week coincides with World Standards Day which will be commemorated on Tuesday, October 14 and the theme chosen by the three International Organisations (ISO, IEC and ITU) for its observance is: “Standards level the playing field”.
As part of the week’s activities and in keeping with the theme, the GNBS conducted a Presentation Forum for selected Secondary Schools from across the country in an effort to instill knowledge on the subject of Standardisation in the minds of our Youths. This forum was conducted on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in the Conference Room of the Cara Lodge Hotel, Quamina Street, Georgetown.
Students from seven schools namely, Zeeburg Secondary, Mc. Kenzie High School Queens College, St. Roses High, Brickdam Secondary, North Ruimveldt Multilateral and Presidents College conducted presentations on the theme for World Standards Day “Standards level the playing field”.
Students from four other secondary schools were also in attendance. Queens College , St. Roses High, North Ruimveldt Multilateral and Presidents College emerged winners at the event, copping first to fourth place respectively. Trophies were presented to the winners, and Certificates of Participation were presented to each school that presented at the forum.
